Glock 27Concealed Carrying weapons is more of a common occurrence than most people think or realize. Many people carry a concealed weapon with them daily to work, the store, and just about anywhere outside of the home. A concealed carry permit is in my opinion a very good idea to get. There’s no way the government can regulate and legislate safety (take Virginia Tech for example, a gun-free campus), so it’s up to us as private citizens to show would-be shooters or attackers that we are not to be messed with. A shooter would be far less likely to open fire on a group if he wasn’t sure how many of them were concealing weapons, and ready to shoot back. Maybe you already have you Concealed Carry Permit and are looking into carrying everyday. What is the Best Concealed Carry Handgun available?

We’ve chosen the Glock 27 (.40 S&W round) from Glock as the Best Concealed Carry Handgun on the market today. We’ve picked that handgun because of its size, round, capacity, reliability / readiness and price.

The Glock 27 is in the sub-compact size category, which is probably the best and most popular size of a gun to concealed carry. People think pocket pistols are great, but they’re usually to small to control recoil, be accurate beyond spitting distance and have enough stopping power to actually take someone down. The compact size is a little bit big for regular concealed carry on your person, as it would be more difficult to conceal. The Sub-Compact is the perfect compromise of the small frame to conceal easily, as well as being big enough to shoot effectively. They also feel great in smaller hands, especially in women, and the recoil of the Glock 27 is not bad at all.

The Glock 27 chambers a 40 cal (.40 S&W) round, which is in my opinion the Best Caliber for Concealed Carry. It is the perfect compromise between the power of a .45 ACP round, while keeping the smaller size of the 9mm round. It has great stopping power, especially when paired with hollow point or other self-defense rounds. Many people like the 9mm round because of its price and ready availability, but I don’t think the round is as powerful as you’d want for self-defense.

This is the area where the semi auto pistol beats out the revolver, round capacity. While revolvers can only hold about 5-6 rounds, the Glock 27 comes with a standard 9 round magazine, with upgrade options of 11, 13, 15 and 17 round magazines. In the times where you would need to use a concealed weapon, you probably won’t be nearly as accurate as you usually are because of stress, and your heart beating a mile-a-minute. You would probably want as many rounds as you could get. This gun is perfect for that, and if not, switching a magazine is a very quick and easy process, especially compared to reloading a revolver.

Reliability / Readiness

Glocks are traditionally known to be some of the most reliable guns available. They are designed with a simple firing and clearing system, which makes them reliable in almost any circumstance. They are also known for the safety being built into the trigger, which means no more hassling with a safety switch being the right way for the gun to fire. If you pull the trigger, it will shoot.

The price is also a great selling point for the Glock 27. There are many other guns that are great for concealing (Kimber, H&K, SIG), but all of those are significantly more expensive than a Glock, and with comparable performance and extreme reliability, I’d buy 2 Glocks. You can find them new for about $400-500 compared to a $800 H&K USP Compact.

Our Final Pick for the Best Concealed Carry Handgun

The bottom line is that the Glock 27 is an absolutely fantastic gun, and can be considered the Best Concealed Carry Handgun available for a variety of reasons. It’s small enough to easily conceal, yet large enough to shoot powerfully and accurately. The .40 S&W round is small enough to pack a lot of them in, yet powerful enough to take down an attacker. The Glock is extremely reliable in any circumstance, and is ready to fire at a moment’s notice. It’s also a reasonably priced gun, so you won’t be into it for an arm and a leg. Truly the Best Concealed Carry Handgun.

Although fairly well written, the review does little to explain why the Glock 27 is “The Best” conceal carry handgun. It does highlight the basic features of the Glock, but does not compare it to anything. Most anything will be the “Best” if it’s compared to nothing. Also, as a firearms dealer and frequent reader of reviews, I feel more beneficial information would be actual dimensions, rather than say “perfect compromise,” as well as trigger pull weight, and suggested retail price.

The article needs to go into more detail/comparison about recoil compared with .45 and 9mm.

I like the simple approach. If you are so not into handguns that you don’t know the size of a G27 then what good are dimensions? Hard to imagine how that translates to comfort, compact Conceal-ability. But on the other hand if you are knowledgeable with guns you don’t need em either usually.

I like the Glock 27. It’s my bigger EDC. I recently found out that for about $160 you can convert it to a 9mm (just ordered Lone Wolf barrel and G26 mag) and for about $115 you can buy a .357 sig barrel and convert it that way to fire .357 sig.

Very versatile sub compact weapon that is nice to shoot and packs some rounds and stopping power.

Just also ordered the xs lollipop sights.

I carry IWB and like the gun a lot.

Best thing is 100% reliability for about 300-400 rounds.

I own over 15 pocket size – compact carry weapons and this is what I prefer to carry. Like em all (see camp, Rohrbaugh, sig 938, sig 290, XDS, shield, Kimber solo blah blah blah) but this is the shniz-digs IMHO if you don’t mind carrying in a holster.

I REALLY like the Kimber solo and shoot it remarkably well for me. It’s just limited in round capacity. Over 500 rounds through it with no FTF or FTE except 2 -115 gr American Eagles that aren’t even recommended.

Can’t go wrong with the Glock 27 IMHO : )

I carry daily a G19 and plan on getting a G27 soon, Glocks for me are the best hand gun Ive ever handled or owned. I have had many and still have a M&P Shield 9mm, but I have never had one that racks quit like a Glock. I put a NY1 8lb spring, and a 3.5 connector, along with Ghost spring kit lighter safety plunger spring, heaver 6lb striker spring, and now have a near as perfect carry trigger at 6lbs all the way through, best I’ve ever had in a handgun. My Little G19 Rock!

I own a Glock 27 Gen4 and it’s one of the top handguns I’ve ever owned. It’s so versatile in so many ways. Like one other has mentioned, it can take a 9mm or 357 conversion barrel. I use my 27 for CC everyday with the
Glock plus 2 mag. Extremely accurate with the recoil diminishing with practice. I also own the Glock 30S and 21SF, but the 27 is my favorite for CC.
